SPD-Fraktion begrüßt „Bündnis gegen Kinderarmut“ als sozialdemokratische Herzensangelegenheit

Für die Einrichtung eines „Bündnis gegen Kinderarmut“ erhält die verantwortliche Sozialdezernentin Barbara Akdeniz (Grüne) nun Lob von der SPD-Fraktion: „Dies ist für uns eine ursozialdemokratische Herzensangelegenheit“, kommentiert die neue stellvertretende Fraktionsvorsitzende, Ulrike Schmidbauer, die an der Gründungssitzung des Bündnisses teilgenommen hatte. „Wir begrüßen diese Initiative daher ausdrücklich.“

Das „Bündnis gegen Kinderarmut“ hat die Aufgabe, alle Akteure aus dem Bereich der Armutsprävention zusammen zu führen, um gemeinsam maßgeschneiderte Lösungen für Darmstadt zu entwickeln. So sitzen dort Vertreterinnen und Vertreter aus Verwaltung, Politik, Praxis und Wissenschaft an einem Tisch. „Es wäre vorteilhaft, diesen Kreis auch um Personen aus den Bereichen Gesundheit und Schule zu erweitern“, regt Schmidbauer an. „In anderen Städten wurden bereits sehr gute Erfahrungen damit gemacht, die verschiedenen Stellen und Kompetenzen zu bündeln, um städtische Maßnahmen gegen Kinderarmut zu entwerfen.“ Deshalb hatte die SPD eine solche Initiative in Ihrem Wahlprogramm auch für Darmstadt gefordert.

Nötig ist es leider. Die jüngsten Zahlen belegen dies erneut. Danach wächst jedes fünfte Kind in der Wissenschaftsstadt in Armut auf. Für Schmidbauer nicht hinnehmbar. „Der Zugang zu Bildung und Freizeitangeboten – und damit der Weg ins Leben und in die Zukunft der Kinder – darf nicht vom Geldbeutel der Eltern abhängen“, betont die SPD-Fraktionsvize. „Ziel sozialdemokratischer Politik ist es deshalb stets, für Chancengleichheit zu sorgen. Das gilt im Bund, in Hessen, aber auch hier, vor Ort. Wir wollen wieder ein Darmstadt für alle“, betont sie.  Hierfür bedürfe es vieler Instrumente. Das „Bündnis gegen Kinderarmut“ sei eines davon.

Wieder ein „Darmstadt für alle“, hierfür war Hanno Benz im Oberbürgermeister-Wahlkampf angetreten, hierfür wurde er von der Bevölkerung gewählt. Wieder ein „Darmstadt für alle“ heißt in diesem Fall konkret, auch für die Kinder – und zwar unabhängig von den finanziellen Verhältnissen der Eltern und unabhängig davon, ob sie in der Innenstadt leben, oder in den Stadtteilen. „Diesem Ziel kommen wir mit dem ‚Bündnis gegen Kinderarmut‘ einen Schritt näher“, ist Schmidbauer überzeugt. „Wir freuen uns und rechnen es Barbara Akdeniz hoch an, dass sie an diesem Punkt unser Wahlprogramm umsetzt und die Politik unseres SPD-Oberbürgermeisters unterstützt, obwohl sie ein anderes Parteibuch hat.“
